We were approached by this client to investigate what options they had to update their 10- year- old house wide audio video system. They had an older SpeakerCraft system with keypads in most rooms as well as a number of TV's located around the house. They had an existing Lutron lighting control system that was working well for now but wanted to future proof the solution by selecting a system that would also offer lighting control when the time comes and the Lutron system begins to fail. 

It was important that the client could access music streaming services like Spotify and iHeartRadio as well as access Netflix and Apple TV. A motorised sliding gate was also being installed and they wanted an audio-video intercom as well as someway of opening and closing gate from the Kitchen if visitors arrived. There had been no internal cabling to allow for an internal video screen or voice station.

Sky TV signal quality was also an issue as they could not take advantage of Sky TV's high definition service on there new TV's. 

They also had a big music and movie collection on various hard drives and PC's  that they wanted to be able to access easily. WiFi coverage throughout the house was also an issue, especially downstairs. 

The solution:
We elected for a Control4 system with one configurable keypad in the ensuite, and a 7" touchscreen in the Kitchen for intercom discussions, and gate control. It also acts as a central place to access all of the house wide music and tv control if they feel like some listening to some music. The rest of the rooms could be operated off phones and iPads. We installed a NAS for easy access to all their music and movies as well as house wide WiFi and upgraded their network equipment. We used an HD modulator to send SKY TV around the house in full high definition to all the TV's and all this was completed over the existing TV aerial cabling. We supplied a Control4 SR260 single remote control for the main lounge so navigating on screen TV menus was easy and selecting the different viewing options was a simple one click affair.  We were able to utilise the existing cabling throughout the house to achieve all the outcomes the client requested with no need for painting or plastering.
